A pair of padded Aga hob covers that sit on top of the two round, insulated chrome lids — woven, never printed, in Lancashire from organic and recycled yarns, exclusively for Maison Elhoria. Most Aga owners cover both lids; this pair means both match.

• Keeps both chrome lids free of scratches from pans, trays and daily kitchen life

• Woven cloth, not printed — the colour runs through the fabric, so it will not fade or crack with washing

• The chrome lids do the real insulating; the covers add a little more on top, and above all protect and bring colour — we would rather be honest than promise fuel savings

• A hanging loop on each cover slips over the lid handle — on in a second, off in a second

• A tip from us: rest a pan with its base against the back of the cover and the striped front stays clean

• Care advice: wash cool and gentle, 30°C at most, low spin; pull into shape while damp and iron. The cotton settles slightly at first wash while the insulating layer does not — a good press puts everything right
